Berlin Day Six- Bauhaus and schnitzel

I got a late start today. I wish I could have brought my chiropractor with me. I answered a few emails from a few of the lively Americans I've meet this week then left for the Bauhaus Archiv near Tiergarten. I've seen the Victory Column from the S-Bahn a few times now looking up Klingelhoferstasse (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berlin_Victory_Column) The Bauhaus is about a 15 minute walk from the S-Bahn station just over the Spree. Free lockers, large toilet, free audio tour, small shop and cafe. Loved it.

I left there and went back to Sophieneck for a pork schnitzel with potato wedges and bell pepper. Hope you like the photos.

The large building to the left is the home of CDU, Christian Democratic Union. That's the party of the current Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel. It's across the street from the Bauhaus Archiv.

I have arrived.

I can't get enough of this building.

Designed by Mies Van der Rohe

This original was owned by Mies himself.

Paul Klee

I decided not to go to Dessau but this is almost as good.

Safety first.

This tower was finished in 1734. Martin Luther King gave a speech in this church, then in East Berlin, in 1964.

You can see more bullet holes in the facade to the right that happened during the Battle of Berlin.
