I'm just going to start at the end. We saw Star Wars The Force Awakens on the largest cinema screen in Europe. Everyone cheered- at the beginning, during, and at the end. That's how the French do and I loved it. The theatre was packed for the only VO (version originale-English with French subtitles) of the day. Start time at 0045 but it was more like 0105. We were walking down our street almost home at 0337.

A few came out in "costume".
We slept in and chilled out for most of the morning and afternoon listening to Jazz on the cable channel and listening to the street below. I wanted to go back down to the 13th so we took the metro to Gare d'Austerlitz. Just down the street from the metro entrance is an Invader. Cite de la Mode et de Design is in the distance. It was my intention to go there after to see an Invader and the C215 outside the museum however, a slight miscalculation on the crosswalk had us crossing Pont Charles de Gaulle instead. There are Invaders around Gare de Lyon so we kept walking down Rue Van Gogh. |

Instead of heading back over the bridge I changed the plan and headed north away from the river in search of other Invaders nearby.

We hopped on the metro and headed to Republique. Not many candles were burning at the memorial. Dinner was on our minds so we walked to find a bar b q place called The Beast. Unfortunately it didn't open for another hour and a half so we headed back to the metro and headed home. It's a crying shame because if it tastes as good at it smelled it will be amazing. Elizabeth spotted a Le Chevalier along the way. |

We had dinner at Pema Thang Tibetian. It was just as good as last time I was here with Joey and Chica in 2013. Only three tables were occupied. I don't understand why. The ladies that own and run the restaurant and very nice. Get the cabbage and/or spinach dumplings. Or the fried vegetable patties. Out of this world.
The place Cathy, Takashi, and I went for coffee and dessert the other night was closed so we walked over to Shakespeare & Co. This wonderful bookstore is open nightly until 11pm. Almost immediately I overheard a conversation between to gentlemen who were cleaning out and making room in the mystery section about Farscape and other science fiction shows. I couldn't resist agreeing that Farscape was indeed a show like no other. One recommended a title to the other I wasn't familiar with so I threw in The Forever War. The English gentlemen mentioned Star Wars and I told him we were going that very night. He has to wait until Sunday until his girlfriend is done with exams so they can go together.
Outside they have a used section of books. I found an old paperback of I, Robot with great cover art and the screenplay book of Henry Fool. At checkout the English gentlemen let me know he had just read that copy of I, Robot and put it out for sale that day. Because of my knowledge of science fiction he gave me S&Co tote bag.
Then it was time for Star Wars.
Day Eight: Musee d'Orday.
