Paris Day Ten- Musee d'Orsay

I was at the ATM this morning and I realized there was an elderly woman standing suspiciously close to me as I waited for my money to dispense. I turned to look at her and she had her hand out. When I looked at her face she she went from no expression to a big smile. We both had a laugh and she said something to me in French which of course I didn't understand but I'm sure it was witty considering her age and the joke she just played on me. That made my morning.

After my encounter with this lovely French women I caught the RER C to the Musee D'Orsay. I had to see what this Masculine/Masculine exhibit was all about. Plus they have a few good other paintings as well.

Masculine/Masculine had some great works by Francis Bacon and David Hockney. And one drawing by William Blake. I'm still thinking on David La Chapelle's work. Not sure what I think about it yet.

Here's some more photos of art with me in them. A few choice works I might add that almost made me cry they are so good. I had a flashback to the Doctor Who episode a few seasons back called "Vincent and the Doctor". It makes me tear up every time I watch it. It was a bit like that, being surrounded by beautiful Van Gogh's wishing he was here to see the crowds of people looking at and admiring his work.

Night of the Living Dead is playing at La Desperado (formerly Action Ecoles) tonight over in the Latin Quarter. The theater apparently has a history and is owned by film maker Jean-Pierre Mocky. I may go check it out.

View from the top floor. You can see Montmartre and Sacre Coeur in the distance.

Love this one by Caillebotte.

I mentioned this painting yesterday. Here's the real Bal du Moulin de Gallette.

A little Manet.

There a signs up everywhere not to take pictures. When the docent is away, I'm taking photos.

Seurat

Here come the Van Goghs...

Makes me want to catch the train out to Auvers to see the real thing.

Whistler. I guess Mr. Bean didn't really mess it up after all.

Lautrec

I like Rosa Bonheur. This one especially.

The sad Millet painting. At least that's what I call it.

0% chance of rain today. Pfft. There was a long line when I got here this afternoon. Only took 20 minutes to get in.
